Original
wooden floors, fireplace
- Within a block of the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. The Champ
de Mars Park is a rare bonus in Paris, as there are few large
parks in the center of the city. Walk, run, play in 1 of 3 playgrounds,
basketball court, go to the puppet theater or just sit and enjoy.
Nearby skating and bike rental are a fun activity in the park,
especially after strenuous site seeing
- 10 minutes walk to the Invalides, 10 minutes to the Trocadero,
the Grand Palais and the couturier's on Ave. Montaigne. 15 minutes
walk to the Champs Elysees, 20 minutes walk to Place de la Concorde
and the Bon marche department store
- Pont de l'Alma is 5 minutes walk and has the largest open market
in Paris every Saturday morning. Merchants come from the country
with: wines, fruit, vegetable, flower, fish, pates, breads, even
5 types of escargots!
- Rue Rue Cler: 5 minutes walk and is one of the best and most
famous streets for food in Paris. Sunday Market there is a must,
as French families line up to buy their cheese, salad, tartes,
meat or fish for their Sunday lunch
This apartment is perfect for two couples; or a family of 5 with
young children.
You
enter the apartment to find powder room on your left, with small
sink for extra 'getting ready' room. It is tiled in white carrara
marble with a gray and pink geometric border. We found an antique
marble bowl at an antique market in Italy; carried it back and converted
it into a beautiful little sink.
Kitchen is next on your left; newly remodeled with contemporary
pale wood cabinets and pale granite worktops. A heavy sliding glass
panel with simple, sandblasted design slides shut to close off the
kitchen, providing an attractive feature when viewed from the living
room. Kitchen is fitted with all appliances: refrigerator/freezer,
microwave, oven and dishwasher, toaster, etc. Dishes are from E.
Dehellerin in Paris, the shop which furnishes all good restaurants.
With a full array of cookware, you can shop the local market and
prepare your own gourmet meals.
You
enter the piece de resistance on your right, the living room. It
is southwest facing and has two sets of French doors which open
onto a sunny balcony. This sunny room has beautiful, original oak
parquet floors, white marble fireplace and mirror. The view is special:
looking down the tree-lined Avenue de la Bourdonnais, over a low
red-brick turn-of-the-century school and directly into the trees
of the Champ de Mars to the right. You can see the Eiffel tower
on the far right. A round marble bistro table and chairs sit on
the balcony for you to enjoy croissants and café au lait
each morning. View is especially beautiful at sunset.
The
living room is actually two rooms which we opened up to create a
single, spacious room during the day. Solid, maple and sycamore
doors have been designed to divide it at night, making a separate
bedroom to sleep two. Guests can stay up and talk, listen to music
or read in the first area, while others go to bed. TV, DVD player
and sound system make it a comfortable room for relaxing in after
a long day of sightseeing and shopping.
The
first half of the living room includes antique bistro table next
to the fireplace, useful for working or reading. The round, beech
wood dining table is on the other side of the fireplace and expands
to seat six.
The second half is furnished with an Empire-style 'lit bateau'
daybed that is attractive and practical as it provides comfortable
seating during the day and pulls out to make 2 comfortable twin
beds or a single king at night. Sheets and bedding are provided
for both sizes of beds. We believe our guests prefer these deluxe
beds to what is generally available in rental apartments.
There
is a beautiful antique commode and mirror on the left wall of the
living room, facing the French doors. A built-in closet provides
extra hanging and storage space.
You proceed down the corridor to find the first bathroom on your
right, including a full fixed shower and sink, tiled in beige Limestone.
Washer and dryer are in the closet next to the bathroom.
The corridor widens to a reading room, which becomes the second
bedroom, to sleep one or two. This room is naturally lit by a large
window in the corridor, overlooking the quiet courtyard of the building.
This cosy room has built-in bookshelves, lamps, built-in closet
and Empire-style wooden day bed. The day bed is similar to the one
in the living room, with twin mattress and second pullout twin bed
underneath. The beds can be joined to make a king as desired. This
is a nice room for quiet reading or napping, as doors close it off
from the entryway and master bedroom.
Master
bedroom with ensuite shower are next, with large window overlooking
the inner courtyard of the building. Comfortable, twin beds can
be joined to make a king, to sleep two. Linens for both twin and
king are provided. There is a built in closet with television above.
All windows and French doors are new and provide excellent sound
and thermal insulation.
Second bathroom is ensuite, with full, fixed shower and handmade
sink, painted with flowers. It is tiled in beige French limestone
with halogen down lights. All linens for twin and king beds are
provided.
This is a non-smoking apartment.
