Il
Borro, a small medieval village and surrounding countryside wholly
owned by Salvatore Ferragamo, is located in the valley of the Arno
river. It is just outside of the small village of San Giustino Valdarno,
about 18 km north west of Arezzo.
Il Borro is no ordinary rental.
The Ferragamo family known for their excellence in style and fashion
have turned their attention to this small historic village as a
unique holiday stay, and the results are impressive. The Borro (the
village proper) with its population of perhaps 100 residents provides
village life for our clients like no other rental we currently have.
Here you live in the village along with other village residents.
The picturesque village with its typical medieval urban plan still
dominates the estate: in typical Tuscan tradition the farmhouses
(originally the "masters houses) are scattered over the surrounding
land. These precious properties have been carefully restored
to protect their rustic origins but now provide the maximum level
of comfort possible for luxury holiday accommodation.

Its position at the highest point of Il Borro affords Verdelli a
most enchanting view of the valley and Loreno stream far below.
The large drawing room on the second floor has space for a study
area and a large sofa bed, also on this floor are two double bedrooms,
one of which boasts a reading gallery with sofa bed. Another
double bedroom and en-suite is found on the third floor giving this

has three double bedrooms, three bathrooms and a soda bed in the
sitting room. Although at the centre of the village this house is
still peaceful, sitting in the piazza on a warm evening with a glass
of cold wine and chatting amiably with the locals is what life in
Tuscany is all about - and this is the perfect spot for it!
Borro Rino - 6+1 guests
Set
at the higher end of the village this picturesque two-storey
house is ideal for larger families with its own private garden and
outdoor eating area.

Farmhouses
Poggio
Piano
This old "masters house" or as we would now say "colonial
farmhouse" is reached by a private driveway that takes one
out onto the estate, surrounded by gentle farming activities and
wildlife. The house is divided into four apartments, two
on each floor, all of which have two double bedrooms. The apartments
on the upper level are reached by a majestic double stairway and
afford the inhabitants panoramic views. The ground floor apartments
with separate entranceways have their own private gardens. Set
in the middle of an extensive communal garden is the swimming pool
and stone barbecue with, near the entrance to the property,
ample garage space and wood store. Poggio Piano apartments are the
ultimate in luxury country retreats for couples and families alike.
La Capanna
La Capanna before restoration was exactly as its name depicts -
a barn, now however, you would be hard pushed to find anyone not
willing to sleep there! This special little jewel of a house
situated in the vicinity of Poggio Piano sleeps five people,
the master bedroom with double bed and en-suite holding a special
intimacy of its own. Adjacent is the nautical bedroom with two singles
and downstairs a studio-come-bedroom with another large bathroom.
Three sets of arched French windows open out onto the garden and
pool.
Mulino
I & II
In a quiet corner of the estate, overlooking the river, in the
most tranquil atmosphere imaginable are the Mulino houses. Centuries
ago the water wheel stood here, now the old mill and millers house
have been resurrected. The smaller of the two - Mulino I has been
restored to a level of luxury the millers family would not have
known - two spacious double bedrooms with private balconies, two
bathrooms and a studio-come- bedroom, comfortable sleeping five
people. Mulino II is a three storey stone house perfect for larger
families or groups with two doubles and one twin bedroom. A delightful
feature is the large room covering the ground floor with French
windows opening onto the garden, which slopes gently away to the
riverside. Both houses look out over the river and beyond to
the estate and are surrounded by a stunning natural environment.
A unique touch is the natural water pool, which has been created
by use of a dam as in the olden days when the water mill was working.
Casa
al Piano
Just off the lane which cuts through the estate is this grand colonial
farmhouse, as with Poggio Piano it is split into four apartments,
two on each level, each accommodating four people with ease.
A luxurious pool house and barbecue where families can while
away the days swimming and enjoying their meals al fresco complement
the private walled in pool area.
