This beautiful old hamlet, dating back to the 14th century, stands amid the hills of the Siennese countryside, one of the most enchanting areas in Tuscany and culturally one of Italy's richest, a few kilometres from Sienna and San Gimignano. The famous Chianti vineyards offer many excursions in an area of rare beauty.

The hamlet of Borgo Il Poggiaccio, significant for its history and architecture, was recently restructured, while fully respecting the ancient buildings and original characteristics typical of a 14th-century village, thus preserving its magical medieval atmosphere.
Borgo Il Poggiaccio was once a small but self-sufficient village that, as such, had its own little school, a bakery, a blacksmith's shop, etc.

The Borgo has 3 double bedrooms (approx. 40 sq. metres) and 15 apartments (varying in size from 60 - 140 sq. m., accommodating 2 - 6 persons), each architecturally different from the other. They are rented on a weekly basis. The apartments each have a fine fireplace and a well-equipped kitchen. The home and rooms have all been tastefully furnished and benefit from all modern conveniences (satellite TV, radio and telephone)

Borgo Il Poggiaccio covers an area of 12.000 sq.m., has a large swimming-pool, a spacious terrace for sunbathing with deck-chairs and sunshades, a tennis-court and well-kept garden areas with pergolas, tables, seats and benches for al fresco dining and an enclosed private car park. Pets are welcome.

To make the stay extra-pleasant, Borgo Il Poggiaccio offers guests upon request various services within the residence such as tennis lessons, massage by a physiotherapist, etc.
Included in the weekly rent are a lavish breakfast buffet, daily room service with cleaning of bathroom and change of towels, mid weekly cleaning of apartment with change of bed- linens.

The restaurant La Cantina del Poggiaccio with it's beautiful vaults built of bricks and natural stone, dating back to the 14th century, offers its clients Tuscan specialities. Half-board or a special package with three 'soirées musicales' on request.
Romantic dinners with piano-music played at the bar, sociable barbecue and buffet-dinners on the terrace by the pool make guest's stay at the Borgo an unforgettable event. Selected Tuscan wines may be savoured in the wine-cellar. Numerous handcrafted products and specialities of various kinds are available at the boutique.

From Easter until October, this attractive place whose acoustics are strikingly good, and the adjacent terrace are also the scene, in the evening, of classical music and operatic concerts, held at regular intervals. This place is particularly suitable for seminars and conferences.
Borgo Il Poggiaccio organizes for its guests cultural excursions of various kinds and visits to wine cellars in the area of Chianti or Montalcino, including wine-tasting.

And, in addition, excursions on foot or on a mountain-bike, picnic, riding, brief cruises to the Island of Elba in a yacht or catamaran, cooking courses etc.
