Southern Italy

Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano, Capri – dream locations – a place everyone must go at least once. Pompeii, Ischia, Naples, so many sites to see.

Southern Italy, including Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, and Sardinia, contains some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.  Combine the scenery with a sunny, mild climate and you have a fantastic vacation destination.
On the Amalfi Coast, the resort towns of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello offer stunning vistas and many types of summer recreation.  

Easily reached by hydrofoil are the nearby islands of Capri and Ischia.  Sicily has lovely stretches of beach and many popular resort areas, including Taormina and Cefalu.
The remarkable remains of Greek colonization that began in the 8th Century BC can be found in Paestum in Campania.  These are some of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world.

Of course, some of the most well known archaeological sites are found in Campania, the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum that were destroyed, yet preserved by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, in AD 79.
Southern Italy also contains two cities that are outstanding examples of Baroque architecture:  Lecce, in Puglia and Noto, in Sicily.
From the glittering Bay of Naples to the enchanting island of Capri to the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, visitors have been attracted to Campania by its astonishing natural beauty and its inviting climate.
