    Vacation Property Details

This property of unusual charm has been created in a former 11th century monastery. It is situated in a rural location in the south of the Pays d’Aix, 12 kilometres from the centre of Aix en Provence. Also within a short drive is the beautiful Jardin d'Albertas and, at Valabre, the famous Pavilion de Chasse du Roi René

The main house offers a living area of approximately 900m2. Next to the main part of the house is a large barn suitable for functions and including a billiard and games room, with pinball machine, sound system and sofas for relaxing. Close to this is an 11th century chapel and, approximately 200 metres away, is a shared tennis court (which can be private on request) To one side of the house, on a slightly lower level, is the swimming pool (13 metres), with protective cover for the safety of young children. At this pool level there is a covered area, housing a fridge, changing room and WC.

The living area, which occupies all the ground floor, consists in vaulted rooms whose austerity has deliberately been conserved by the owner during the restoration of the building. Very thick walls and stone flagged floors, keep the rooms cool during the summer months. Stone archways connect the various living and dining areas and there is a huge old stone fireplace in the main living room. The kitchen is not large but very well equipped and opens up to a large shaded terrace overlooking the swimming pool, where there are two large teak dining tables and chairs for dining outdoors. The rooms are furnished and decorated to a particularly high standard with antiques gathered in Asia.
